Snapdragon 855 Plus vs MediaTek Helio G90T

Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus vs MediaTek Helio G90T

Processor, another crucial term to keep in mind when buying a new smartphone. Of course, it should be as all factors and limitations of the device depend on specs of the processor itself. There are a lot of processor building companies out there, Qualcomm's Snapdragon and MediaTek Helio are two most widely preferred and used. Both the SOCs serve well to the budget mobile sector and well as flagship devices.

Snapdragon 855 Plus vs MediaTek Heili G90T
Snapdragon 855 Plus is a high-performance 64-bit ARM LTE system on a chip and Helio G90T is MediaTek's high-end chip, both were out in mid-2019.

It can be a bit difficult to declare one of them a better chipset, as both of them have the same capability. However, the major difference that you ought to know here is is that Snapdragon 855 Plus is a flagship chipset by Snapdragon which is found high-range smartphones, whereas MediaTek Helio G90T is mid-range gaming chipset costing around 15k.

Manufacturing Process

Let's begin the comparison with the manufacturing process of CPU, the newly launched Helio G90T still works on the 12nm manufacturing process while Snapdragon 855 works the 7nm fabrication process, whereas companies like HiSilicon, Samsung's Exynos, etc available with 7nm or 8nm manufacturing process. There is a difference of 5nm between both chipsets which will result in faster battery draining in Helio G90T during gaming. So its a win-win situation for Snapdragon 855 plus, in this case, mid-range Helio G60T cannot beat flagship Snapdragon 855 Plus and even processor Snapdragon 855.

Snapdragon 855 Plus got Kyro 485 Cores with 64-bit Octa-Core. The Kyro 485 CPU has 2 Prime Cortex-A76 Cores operating at 2.96hz, 2 Cortex-A76 cores clocked a 2.3Ghz and the other 4 Cortex-A76 Cores running at 1.8Ghz clock speed. On the other hand, MediaTek Helio G90T has 64-bit Octa-Core CPU which includes 2 Arm Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05Ghz with 6 Arm Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0Ghz. Snapdragon 855 Plus is a clear winner in the case of CPU.

Adreno 640 GPU of Snapdragon 855 Plus is drastically fast to defeat MediaTek Helio G90T's featuring Arm Mali-676 3EEMC4, which operates at 800Mhz. Additionally having MediaTek's HyperEngine game technology for even better gaming performance. Dramatically the winner is Snapdragon 855 Plus in the gaming section as well.

MediaTek Helio G90T supports  Full HD+ display having an aspect ratio of 21:9 with 90hz. While Snapdragon 855 Plus supports 4k ultra HD display with newer HDR10+. It's an easy win for Snapdragon 855 Plus.

RAM and Storage

Snapdragon 855 Plus supports 4 x 16 bit LPDDR4X up to 10GB RAM running at 2133MHz,
while MediaTek Helio G90T supports LPDDR4X RAM up to 10GB also at 2133MHz, also supporting LPDDR3 RAM. Both the chipsets have support for eMMC 5.0 and UFS 2.1 types of storage, pretty equal in case of storage and RAM.

Connectivity Features

In this part, Snapdragon 855 Plus had Snapdragon X24 LTE modem which uses LTE 20 category
for providing a better download speed of up to 2Gbps and LTE 13 Category 13 for a bit better uploading speed of 316Mbps. It is a WiFi 6 ready SOC that supports triple-band wifi: 2.3GHz, 5GHz, and 60GHz along with GPS, VoWiFi, Dual VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, NFC, USB 3.1, USB-C,  Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+, etc. Talking about MediaTek Helio G90T, it uses LTE Cat-12 Modem for download speed up to 600Mbps and LTE Cat-13 Modem for providing an upload speed of up to 150mbps. Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, FM Radio, NFC, Dual VoLTE, VoWiFI, etc, are supported in this MediaTek Helio chipset. Snapdragon 855 Plus is quite advance in term of connectivity

Snapdragon 855 Plus is a 5G ready chipset.
